What to do about my dog barking at people at night?
My lab mix is not much of a barker, unless her toy gets trapped under the couch. When it comes to strangers, she seems to see everyone as a chance to get petting and attention when she sees people outside while we're on a walk, she sits and wags her tail, trying to look cute so people will approach. But in the last few weeks, she has been barking at people at night. It's a deep bark, not the high pitched one she uses for when her toys are trapped. She doesn't lunge toward people, and she follows me when I change directions, but it's odd to see her barking. A part of me is upset that she is possibly scaring people, and another part of me is happy that she warns me of people when it's dark outside. Does this sound like a behavior that should stop? If so, any suggestions? A part of me feels that the barking is a warning whether necessary or not , and I'm nervous about trying to end a warning behavior.

How to stop my dog barking and going crazy when people come to the door?
my dog is a 5 year old, retriever lurcher male who is very excitable. i love him to pieces and i got him 4 years ago at a dog trust shelter. the problem is that when the doorbell rings he goes mad, he stops what he is doing even if he is eating and races to the door where he jumps up and barks. he always wags his tail and is never aggressive. he is just too excited though, my mum and i have to wrestle him to allow the door to be opened, once we shut him in the lounge just to be able to get to the front door, he managed to open the lounge door and run to the front door he knocked my mum over she broke her foot when he knocked her and chased the delivery man out the house.even if it is someone he knows that is at the door he still goes mental, once they are inside he jumps up and whines and will physically knock them over for attention. we all know that he only wants the attention but he is just to excitable and it's has been getting worse.we know that he is a nervous dog at night because he barks in the night and he had a phase of chewing in the night unfortunately we have to put him in a very large cage when we go out or at night because we can't trust him. he wears a pheromone collar but it only seems to stop the night time barking and doesn't reduce his excitement in the day. he gets 3 long walks a day and spends a few hours in the garden when i'm home from school. he doesn't have any medical problems. so why is my dog like this with the doorbell?? and how can i stop him from doing this?? we tried distracting him with toys, food, cuddles with someone else any ideas?? thanks ahead
Why is my dog barking at nothing? Then snarling?!?
Okay well this has only happened once before about a year ago. I had woke up and my dog was staring at a corner, her tail moving back and forth, like she was wagging it but in really short jerking motions. Then all of a sudden her tail goes straight up and she SNARLS This is a dog who hasnt barked since she was 6 months old, and hasn't even snarled even when we were playing rough with her toys. Then she jumps on my bed and nearly sits on my chest, so i scoot her off and tell her to lay down, but she doesn't. She walks in a circle, then lays down. Her head on my chest but she was still fully alert, her ears straight up and everything. The hair on her back was doing funny, when i tried to pet her she jerked away but never picked her head up off my chest. Then she does this thing between a snarl and a growl and presses closer to my side. After she had started to dose off, she jumps up and snaps at my wall. Then she went behind my head between the pillow and wall and planted herself there. So i moves because she was practically sitting on my head. Then she laid down, I couldn't get her to move until the sun came up. I dont think either of us slept that night, because during the night she paced alot and lunged a couple times, then when the sun was up she was pawing at the door to go outside. Last night the same thing happened except when i went to get up she planted her big but on me so I wouldn't move out the bed. Is there something in my house? Or is my dog just going nuts? This has me freaked out because everyone in town says a drug dealers mother died in the house, but they never figured out why. But my mom says no one has died hereWe are sure we dont have rats or mice, mom said its something with the way the house is built or something. It could be traffic though She doesn't have any health problems at all, we do vet visits every month to make sure of that. Also, she could have been sleep walking but she looked awake, has there ever been cases of that before?

What should I do if I hear dogs barking constintly?
Hi, recently I've been hearing lots of dogs barking in this forest I live near and I'm worried that it might be a puppymill or something because it sounds like there are many dogs there cause there's some barks that are low, high, strong, weak. I'm certain it's from the forest because my two neighbors don't have dogs. Also sometimes it sounds like these dogs are getting closer and closer but once it sounds like the dog is right beside me the barking stops no I am not crazy Should I be worried or not and if yes what should I do?
