When does a puppy stop mouthing?
I have a 6 mth old staff she has most if not naerly all her adult teeth and she still bites when does this stopit's not that she bites me in teething its anyone that visits. i am calm and assertive but telling her to stay and leave is not working. what do i do
How do u get your dog/puppy to stop mouthing (play biting)?
I have a mixed puppy that i have had since she was 2 months. She is 9 months old and she has many chew toys, i tried giving her a different one every week so she doesnt get bored of just one. Then i tried letting her have all of them at once. But either way, she still likes to mouth on me and my family. She's chewing on one of her toys and then all of a sudden she comes up and wants to start to bite on you. She doesnt bite hard or do it to hurt you, she wants to play but it still sorta hurts because she is a big 9 month old puppy 52 lbs mixed with large breeds . I just want to know how do you teach them to stop doing that, because i give her toys and i play with her and walk her but all she ends up doing is mouthing. I tried not playing with her to punish her and tieing her up for 10 mins as a sort of " time out" . Does someone have any idea how to teach my puppy to stop doing this?
Our Dog wont stop mouthing my son and i?
Our 16 month old Border Collie won't stop mouthing my son and i on our hands and feet, he's fine with everyone else, it's not painful just annoying, tried yelping and sprays but he still carries on. My 10 year old son can't walk him without him trying to chew his shoes . He doesn't do that with me just mouths my hands when stroking him. What should i do ?
How can I get my puppy to stop mouthing?
My german shepherd puppy is 11 weeks and likes to " mouth" people. Usually when you try and stroke him or play with him or just generally if your hands or arms are at a height he can reach he will " bite" them. It's not really biting in the sense that he bites down but he does like, wrap his mouth around people's arms and hands. He does like us, generally he is a very good and well trained dog but this is starting to become a problem. We've tried telling him no and moving our hands away, I assumed it might be because he is teething, but is this normal? Is there anyway I can get him to stop?Thank you
My dog won't stop mouthing, what do I do?
I got a dog about 2 months ago, he is two years old this month. When I got him I knew he had some issues especially with men but he has gotten a lot better since working with him a lot he absolutely loves my boyfriend and reacts less and less to people on the street .He is a rat terrier and is nearly impossible to tire out 2 hr walk and an hr at a dog park and he comes home and still wants to play ...but it is hard to play with him at home because he like to mouth our hands and it can hurt...we know he is only doing it in a playful way but we aren't making any progress in stopping it. He doesn't respond much to auditory cues like yelping like a playmate would have done. I really have to distract him with loud clapping. How do I stop his mouthing? He would be nearly a perfect dog if he would just stop the biting.Scarlet, that doesn't work with him. We've tried it and he doesn't seem to care. Tapping him on the nose just makes him want to do it again.He will sometimes just lay with my hand in his mouth not mouthing just laying there falling asleep.

We adopted a Golden Retriever and he is great. The one thing he has a problem with is mouthing and biting. He especially likes to do it to our 5 year old. He is doing it to be playful, however he is pretty big and can bite pretty hard. Hope someone can help

I have a 1.5 year old rescue Shih Tzu mix and he is a young happy go lucky type dog. Being that he is a rescue I started with bonding and training with him right away. I walk him 3 times a day. His first and last walk of the day are 30 min each. His mid day walk is 45 mins. I will even walk him to and from my work, which is 2.5 miles away one way , 2 3 times a week. Where he falls short is applying that training with others. With me he sits, stays, drops it, lays down, doesn't mouth or jump up because I don't allow it. HOWEVER, when other people Co workers, strangers at the dog park , etc greet him, all that wonderful training is out the door. He's friendly and happy BUT He jumps up, he mouths, he nips at their heels I'm mortified I've asked people to please turn away when he jumps up , not to look at him or talk to him in an excited voice, or pet him when he's disobeying. Even still he displays this behavior. I try to correct him, and he will listen only if I'm RIGHT THERE. Once I'm just a few feet away he's back at misbehaving. Plus he is BALL OBSESSED Again, with me I can throw a ball calmly and he plays with ease. Its when I'm at the dog park that he goes after EVERYONE'S tennis ball. No matter who threw it. Or if there are several Tennis balls at once being thrown its like he can't decide which he wants more and tries for all of them. OR he steals others dogs tennis balls.I don't allow him to hoard tennis balls at home, nor do I let him " own" any toy for that matter.He will relinquish a toy when told to. He's so focused with me normally but whenever other people are around he seems to forget. What should I do?

We got a new ten wk old puppy and my gsd wont stop mouthing all on her she is always rolling her over and mouthing all over her and pulling her legs she isnt mouthing hard and isnt trying to hurt her if tink wines she will stop for a second what can this be i stop them and succeed but a while later she will do it again she doesnt do it constantly just every once and a while she is very protective of this pup like it was her own is she playing? Wat she has gotten a little rougher she now twists their legs a bit but only if she gets really excited when we go on walks i let tink follow behind dont worry she isnt going anywhere because keke puts her in line i guess because she is letting her know that me and keke go first and her last on 'pack walks' any reflections on this do you think it will get any worse? i still haven't noticed any scratches or anything im praying i don't
When did you puppy stop mouthing you?
I got my puppy at 10 weeks. He was so crazy. He bit us ALL the time, never pierced the skin . He nipped out feet and clothing and constantly bit our hands. When we said NO, he'd show his teeth and scrunch up his nose. Now he is 4 and half month and is doing much much better. He still mouthes us sometimes if you pat him and leave your hand dangling infront of his face. Sometimes he just comes and put his mouth on your hand. He usually just lets go when you move your hand, occasionally he holds tighter as you pull away, but he's not biting. He's going to dog school soon, then maybe a behaviorist if we can afford it. But in the mean time i was wondering when YOUR puppy stopped mouthing you if he ever started , and if he's ever showed you his teeth with told off. He usually rolls on his back in that submissive position then shows his teeth..very confused dog.He has a lot of chew toysI'm not asking for help on the matter but thank you i'm just curious when your puppy stopped mouthing on their own.My puppy eats everything, hairspray and sour apples included lol
Puppy has stopped mouthing, began biting, help needed?
He's been having these moments throughout the day, for 5 minutes at a time. It started last week. I think I may have been too rough dominant on him following some advice from this website , and this is his retaliation.I feel like he is either mad at me or trying to tell me something... is it normal for puppies to act like this?
